Fares rise but not taxi vouchers
THE recent taxi fare hike is likely to hit the elderly and infirm who still rely on the same amount of vouchers.
A two-mile journey now costs £5, or £7.50 after 11pm, but Dacorum Borough Council's voucher allocation remains £100.
The vouchers are given to those who are unable to use buses.
A council spokesman said: "Dacorum is in a minority amongst other councils in issuing such vouchers and £100 a year is above average."
